RUSTYLE – FIRST LONDON CONCERT OF ALEXANDER MARTSINKEVICH AND SHOW – GROUP ‘KABRIOLET’

The concert will start on 25 September from 19.00pm, at Logan Hall Theatre.
The “Kabriolet” was formed in 1994 under the leadership of Alexander Martsinkevich. Among the St. Petersburg Gypsy ensembles Alexander Martsinkevich and his group “Kabriolet” is hardly anyone who will compete. Show-group “Kabriolet” performed in major concert halls and nightclubs. They travelled a good half of Europe, been on tours in many cities of Russia, the laureates and winners of numerous festivals gypsy music at home and abroad. Their concerts are always sold out.
Alexander Martsinkevich has brought to Russian chanson, traditionally regarded as the thieves’ genre, gypsy sensibility and melody. The most important thing that comes to his concerts, the audience is literally three to a hundred years – and this is in itself a great indicator of popularity and the fact that Roma culture continues to be tremendous interest.
In 1996, the already folded ensemble “Kabriolet” received the Grand Prix at the World Festival of Gypsy music in Poland.
In 1997 the group “Kabriolet” won Pop Song Festival in Moscow, Russia, and in 1999 – the winner of the Silver Key in St Petersburg. But perhaps their greatest achievement was the participation at the International Festival of Gypsy Art “at the turn of the century”, which took place last year -in 2009. Then, in the enchanting concert was attended by about 300 artists and collectives. Alexander Martsinkevich was the winner who received a gold medal from sole artistic director in the world of the Moscow Gypsy Theatre Romen Nikolai Slichenko.
